FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW FREQUENT ARE THE SESSIONS?

Sessions are usually arranged once a week. They last 50 minutes and take place at the same day and time each week, which we agree at the start.

HOW LONG WOULD THERAPY BE?

The lengh of your therapy is something that we will agree together at the beginning of our work and we will review frequently. We will start agreeing a time-limited contract (i.e. 6 sessions) after which we will have a review of our work and decide whether and how to continue our work together.

HOW DOES IT WORK IF I HAVE TO CANCEL A SESSION?

Once we agree on a regular time for your session, I will reserve this slot for you each week until we end. This means that if you miss a scheduled session, you will still have to pay for it. If you let me know with more than 48 hours notice, I will do my best to offer you an alternative session to recover the session you missed, but this will be subject to my availability and cannot be guaranteed. It will not mean you get reimbursed.
A change of plans with less than 48 hours notice will be considered a short notice cancellation, and cannot be rescheduled.

As I understand the importance of flexibility in life, I do offer up to 3 days of planned cancellations free of charge every 6 months, so you can use this for planned holidays, other appointments, or anything else you may chose.
I will let you know weeks or months in advance of any planned absences of mine during the time we agree to work together. Should I need to cancel a session due to an unexpected emergency, I will of course offer you some alternative appointments, or reimburse you if we cannot find a way to reschedule before the end of our work.

HOW ARE PAYMENTS ARRANGED?

The fee for weekly 50-minute therapy sessions is £90. Payments need to be done by online bank transfer, before the session takes place. Some people choose to pay in blocks of 4 at the beginning of each month, and this is okay too.

The fee for insurance funded sessions is £100 and this will be invoiced through your own insurance company.

WILL YOU KEEP A RECORD OF OUR SESSIONS?

I will keep short written notes about our sessions. These will be anonymised, which means that I will not use your name and/or identifiable information.
I will stored them securely in an encrypted device and separately from any other records with your personal data and they will be destroyed after 7 years.

IS EVERYTHING I DISCUSS WITH YOU COMPLETELY CONFIDENTIAL?

The sessions are completely confidential except under these three circumstances:

  1. I will discuss my work with a clinical supervisor. This is a standard practice and helps me to work as well as I can with you. My supervisor is bound to the same code of ethics and confidentiality as I am.

  2. If I believe you are at urgent risk of harming yourself or others, I reserve the right to break confidentiality in order to prevent harm. In this case I may contact your GP and/or the police and/or your emergency contact person. I would only do this in extreme circumstances and I will always try to discuss this with you first, before taking any action.

  3. If required by a court of law to give evidence (i.e. in criminal proceedings).
